2019 Squawking Magpie Counting Crows Chardonnay
Awards and Accolades
The start of the 2019 growing season was wet and cool, but this season will be remembered for the glorious last 3 months of fine warm dry weather allowing grapes to be picked in ideal conditions. Disease pressure was low; grapes were ripe with good flavor concentration and excellent sugar and acid balance.
The hand-picked grapes were gently pressed and the juice transferred to 500 l and 225 l oak barrels for fermentation. 15% of the barrels were new. Indigenous yeast and bacteria carried out the alcoholic and mal-lactic fermentations. The lees were gently stirred, and the wine remained in oak barrels and puncheons for 15 months.

Slow-roasted Pork BellyA roast crisp pork belly is entertaining at its best, without the fuss. Roast pork belly works best with a wine that has a high level of acidity plus a touch of sweetness – a young Pinot Noir or Dry Riesling would be perfect.
