Frequently Asked Questions

Are the prices listed on your website in US dollars or NZ dollars?

All prices on the website are in US dollars.

Why do I have to verify my age when I place an order?

US Federal and State Laws State “No purchase of wine, beer or spirits may be made by anyone under 21 years of age”. Proof of age must be provided at the time of purchase. This is done through our logistics partner Vinoshipper. Once you create a Vinoshipper account, your age verification status will be associated with your account and you won’t need to go through the age verification process for future orders.

The Age Verification process didn’t work. What do I do now?

Check your inbox. It’s likely you have used a non US ID like a New Zealand Drivers Licence or Passport. Our logistics provider Vinoshipper has to manually approve any international identification supplied. The US also cannot recognise New Zealand’s four digit area codes as all US codes are 5 digit. They will send you an email with instructions on how to proceed.

How can I prevent my wine from spoiling in transit during extreme hot weather?

During Summer months chiller packs are added to all orders, but these only last for 2-3 days depending on the external temperature. To protect your wine, New Zealand Wine Navigator may hold a ground shipment until we have a cooler window. You will receive an email with tracking information when the wine is safe to ship. If weather is a concern in your area or if your order is time sensitive, we suggest selecting a 2, 3 day or overnight option. Our overnight summer shipping rates are very competitive. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us 1-844-569-9463.

I'm sending wine as a gift, do I enter my email address or the recipients?

Please be aware the email you provide is the email UPS in the United States will use as the contact for tracking should there be any issues or questions.

The most important thing is your recipient receives their wine order. We recommend adding the recipient’s email address as the contact and adding your own email address as an 'Order Follower' if you’d like to follow the order. This way you’ll receive notifications also. To add a second contact for an order: Open the order, next to ‘Order Followers’ on right side of page, click +Add, choose text or email and input the contact information.

What do I do if the order's recipient isn't going to be home to receive the wine order?

UPS Access Points can significantly increase successful deliveries. If the recipient isn’t going to be home during delivery hours, a UPS Access Point is the solution!

To send your order to a UPS Access Point:  Open your order, choose Change Shipping, select Keep Current Address and then click Set UPS Access Point. There will then be a list of access points near your original shipping address.

When I order, do the wines ship from New Zealand?

No. All of our wines are stored in a temperature controlled warehouse in California for fast, cost effective delivery. More shipping information can be found here.

Can I only order if I live in the US?

We only deliver within the US but you can order wine no matter where you are located  in the world and send it to friends, family, colleagues etc in the US.

When I view my cart, why am I taken to a different website?

Vinoshipper is our US logistics provider. They manage the different sales taxes, legal compliance and delivery logistics for us. Using a partner like Vinoshipper means we can deliver wine to more States in the US than we would otherwise be able to.

I’ve never heard of the brands on your website. How do I know which ones to buy?

The wineries we represent are all New Zealand family estate vineyards who operate under the New Zealand wine industry sustainability code. Some produce only a couple of thousand cases per vintage, and all take immense pride in producing some of the best handcrafted, artisan wines in New Zealand. We are proud to be able to support these small producers in taking their wines to the world. Please get in touch and we will be happy to provide a recommendation based on your tastes and preferences.

I thought New Zealand was only known for Sauvignon Blanc.

We absolutely believe there is far more to New Zealand wine than our outstanding Sauvignon Blanc. The wines in our portfolio showcase this. We encourage you to give them a try and we are confident you will agree with us.
