Squawking Magpie SQM Big Red 2013
Bold and powerful on the palate with layers of black fruits, ground nutmeg, and cedar. Classical, fine and slightly austere, youthful Cabernet tannins give definition, depth, and distinction to this great Cabernet blend. A surge of flavors on the finish ensure the memory of the wine remains lingering on the palate.

"This is the wine to select when the boss comes for dinner and you need to impress." - Cameron Douglas (MS).
The 2013 growing season was the true Goldilocks season. Everything was “just right” and the grapes made perfectly balanced wines that showed approachability from the fermenting vat onwards. All grape varieties were of exceptional quality and the Merlot in particular was the best we have ever seen.

Winemaker's Notes
Our Gimblett Gravels fruit was handpicked and gently handled to ensure skins were not torn or seeds crushed as we destemmed and moved the grapes to our small fermenting vats. We allowed the natural yeast on the grape skins to carry out the ferment and hand plunged as required to ensure the ripe fruit flavors and texture were balanced by fine structural tannins. In its youth now thru 2035.
