Hoisin Duck Canapés
An Asian-inspired lovely, light duck canapé you can prepare in under 30 minutes and requires just a few simple ingredients – tasty finger food in a flash. Pair with a New Zealand Riesling.
Ingredients
40 pieces
- 4 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp Chinese five spice
- 2 duck breasts, skin on
- 1 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 cucumber, sliced into thin rounds
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 1 spring onion, finely sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (optional)
Method
- Mix the hoisin sauce and Chinese five spice in a bowl
- Score the duck skin diagonally
- Marinate the breast in the sauce for 10 minutes
- Heat the oil in a non-stick pan over a high heat
- Shake the excess marinade from the duck and place in the pan skin-side down
- Cook for 5-7 minutes until the skin turns crisp
- Turn the heat down to medium, turn the duck over and brush with the remaining marinade until cooked, about 10 minutes
- Meanwhile, arrange the cucumber slices on a serving platter
- When the duck is cooked, slice thinly and place a piece on top of each of the cucumber slices
- Garnish each with a little cilantro, spring onion and sesame seeds
- Drizzle with sesame oil
- Enjoy with a glass of New Zealand Riesling
