John’s World Famous Burger

Drumsara is a family-owned boutique vineyard – family, friends, food, wine, and the enjoyment of life – that’s Drumsara.  Their wines, infused with ancient glacial mineral deposits in our soil, embody the extreme Central Otago climate. The grapes are delicately crafted into wines of substance by our experienced winemaker and ready for you to enjoy.

Try out John’s World Famous Burger alongside Drumsara’s Central Otago Pinot Noir and you will soon see why it pairs so well. The burger’s creator, John Matheson III, is a 3rd generation family member working at the Drumsara family vineyard.

John’s World Famous Burger

There are three vital ingredients:

  1. Drumsara Central Otago Pinot Noir
  2. McCormacks Grill Mate Montreal Steak Seasoning – a special spicy mix
  3. USA Beef mince to 20% fat content – melt in your mouth (ask your nearest butcher)

Make your own beef patties:

Quarter pounder or half pounder if you are brave. Use nothing but good old USA beef mince BUT be sure to sprinkle McCormacks on both sides.

Cook for 4 minutes a side on medium heat or until 158°F (70°C) internal temperature.

Then use John’s assembly technique:

  1. Sesame Bun base
  2. Aioli / BBQ sauce
  3. Lettuce
  4. Tomatoes
  5. Beef pattie
  6. Slightly melted cheese slice on top
  7. Streaky Bacon
  8. Aioli / BBQ sauce
  9. Sesame Top Bun

It should now look like the photo, with a glass of Drumsara and the bottle readily available for top-ups.
