Ripe tropical fruit, savoury citrus & nutty oak.

2015 Squawking Magpie Counting Crows Chardonnay

Hawke's Bay

New Zealand

Bright, light golden-hued yellow color. This has a full, broad and bold nose of ripe tropical fruit intermingling with savory citrus fruits and yellow stonefruits, melded with layers of creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak, lifted fermentation esters and buttery and butterscotch-like MLF.

Winemaker's notes

This is a single vineyard barrel-aged Chardonnay from the Alluvialle soils of Hawke's Bay. Hand-selected fruit with 12 months maturation in new and one-year-old French oak, the wine is beautifully textured, full-bodied with butterscotch and spicy oak flavors. Displaying mineral tones from the Terroir, this wine has a delightful and very long finish. 100% Malolactic, single vineyard, hand-selected Clone 95, and Mendoza. Barrel fermented and barrel-aged 30% new and 70% one-year-old French Oak.
