Clearview Cape Kidnappers Syrah 2017 – 4.5 stars

A wine with dark fruit flavors and a spicy array of anise, liquorice and black and white pepper. Inviting in its youth but with enough structure that some cellaring will also be beneficial. Vibrant violet and aniseed spice with an underlying complexity from naturally occurring tannin. This wine pairs perfectly with venison, beef or lamb.

Winemaker's Notes

Made from 100% Te Awanga vineyard fruit. A versatile wine that is able to develop overtime but is also great to enjoy now. Fermented with natural yeast and around a quarter whole bunches, this wine underwent regular hand plunging to extract tannin and colour. After extended post ferment maceration the wine was then matured in 10% new French oak and received minimal interventions. The wine was carefully racked from barrel to tank only once just before bottling.
