Awards and Accolades
The start of the 2019 growing season was wet and cool, but this season will be remembered for the glorious last 3 months of fine, warm, dry, late summer and autumn weather, allowing grapes to ripen and be picked in ideal conditions. Disease pressure was low; grapes were ripe with good flavor concentration and excellent sugar and acid balance.
Grapes were grown on the warm free draining gravel soil of the Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Age of vines 17 years. Hand and machine picked using a select head machine, the grapes were in optimal health and ripeness.
Handcrafted with attention to detail - Fermented in small stainless steel vats with daily, gentle manual working of the cap. Post ferment maceration to achieve balance between the fruit weight and tannin structure. Matured for 16 months in small French oak barrels.
Top 3 food
Barbecued Beef BrisketBrisket is a great tasting cut of beef. The surrounding fat and bone give the meat tremendous flavor. I marinate it overnight and cook it long and slow on a smoky covered barbecue – it's definitely worth the wait.
